I love the word WANDERLUST. Its a good word to describe me a bit because I personally happen to get restless living in the same place for too long. I am not afraid of change and I am kinda used to a bit of drama. But I have found that I can be still and tranquil and that is when I am creating art. The normal chaos of my busy life as a mother and a wife instantly dissipates to a restful meditation when I get to stand at my easel to paint or sit at my desk to sketch. I love both analog and digital formats for creating. I draw and design using my Wacom tablet in Adobe illustrator and Photoshop. My paintings are in Oil or Acrylic, pastels and inks. I am mad for collage and I also am obsessed with letters, calligraphy and all things paper. Art has always been my happy thought.
An Artist that i really admire is Wayne Thiebaud. I LOVE his paintings and drawings of food and especially cakes. His abstracted landscapes are amazing. He was a graphic designer and illustrator early in his career and moved on to become a fine artist. He has said "I have to confess you are never fully convinced of what you are doing, which I think is part of the joy". I like this statement as I find this is a really good philosophy.
My classes at Santa Monica College were all in the creative realm. It was affordable to take every art related class in the catalog which I'm pretty sure I did. I then moved on to attend classes at UCLA to learn about art history and design. Earning my BACHELORS degree in Fine Arts from the University of Utah, with an emphasis on Painting and Drawing was a huge goal REALIZED. However my education will never be final. I continue to take workshops in plein air painting & life drawing and Classes to learn Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and lettering. I do this regularly because I WILL be a student forever and I am frankly just completely indecisive and I want to learn it all and do it all.
